Farewell, Warrior Secretary

To be heroic is sacrificing for his countrymen. A warrior’s journey has now come to an end.

Last June 28, former Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin gave his farewell speech thanking the industrious leaders and members of the AFP in front of AFP Grandstand Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Gazmin started his journey as Defense Secretary last June 2010 under the Aquino administration. During his six-year term, he played a huge part in the accomplishment of the defense department’s mission with the full support of President Aquino. They have made a significant progress in the implementation of the AFP capability upgrade and modernization program including various types of air, sea, and land assets; armaments and equipment to boost its operational readiness and defense capabilities.

He commended the AFP for their passion and dedication to their commitments in serving the countrymen.

Moreover, he said that he is confident that the military institution will always be revered and honored by the patriotism and professionalism of the officers, men and women, who are always ready and willing to offer the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their constitutional duty as the protector of the people and the state.

Lastly, he thanked the leaders of the AFP for showing their professional indulgence in their service – Lieutenant General Joby Miranda, Lieutenant General Ed Año, Lieutenant General Ed Fallorina, and Vice Ceasar Taccad.
