This story all started as an Instagram post.
Christine Fulgencio, a retired flight attendant, narrated that she only posted a photo of as soldier’s worn-out combat shoes in Instagram saying that she will sponsor three soldiers for a new set of combat shoes. Surprisingly, a lot of people started bombarding her inb0x asking how they can extend their help to the Filipino soldiers.
Fulgencio was astonished with the immediate optimistic responses she received. After she coordinated with the donors, she was able to purchase 252 pairs of combat shoes for the soldiers in Jolo, Sulu. With the help of Director Rizal Giovanni “Bong” Aportadera Jr. of the Philppine Information Agency – Bureau of Broadcast Services NCR and Mr Carlo Claudio, mover of Support Our Filipino Troops – NCR (SOFT – NCR) Movement, the combat shoes were turned over to Civil Relations Service (7th Civil Relations Group), Armed Forces of the Philippines who facilitated the distribution to the recipients.
