Two years has passed since the infamous Mamasapano incident which has killed 44 Special Action Forces (SAF) in an ambush to capture the Malaysian terrorist, “Marwan”. This operation was dubbed as Oplan Exodus.
Based on the Philippine National Police – Board of Inquiry report, the former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III gave his permission to begin with Oplan Exodus after the plan was presented to him by SAF Director, Police Director Getulio Napenas. Yet, the suspended PNP Chief Alan Purisima interfered with its planning and execution which has brought misinformation and misunderstanding of the real scenario to the President. The operation killed the bomb-maker “Marwan” but also murdered the 44 brave SAF.
No specific office or person has yet to hold the responsibility over the incident. The case is on-going in pursuing justice for the bloody death of SAF 44.
Two years after the incident, elected President, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte wants a faster investigation, recommendation, and resolution as the PNP already completed the report and even submitted it to the Office of the Ombudsman. The report has been undergoing a run-through process of the investigation.
